This little fella is inspired by the local seaweed baths here in Strandhill, County Sligo. One of my early memories from when I first visited Strandhill back in 2004 was the lads from the seaweed baths showing up with seal pups that had been marooned on the back beach at low tide. The fluffy, though savage (as you might be if you were whisked away by weirdos from your backyard), critters would rest up in the seaweed baths until the tide changed when attempts could be made to return them to the seal colony.
I guess the image conjured up in my mind was one these pups mucking about, as kids do, in one of the spare baths – abandoned to hedonistic delights. At some stage one of the Bath’s paying customers gets their room mixed up and opens the wrong door… Sprung! The look on this pup’s face says it all.

You could use a dirty word like ‘souvenir’ but we reckon the humble tea towel, ours in particular, are far more than that. In addition to being an essential bit of kitchen kit we reckon our tea towels look fabulous whether they’re hung over the oven door or on the lounge room wall. A great design speaks to you reminding you of a time, place, someone special – or you just dig it.
All our tea towels are 100% organic cotton. They are hand-woven by a women’s collective in Kerela in southwestern India. The material is GOTS certified and though technically we’re not certified to advertise this fact we thought you should know – the folks down the supply chain are getting a fair go.
We’ve worked hard to source high-quality, ethical tea towel stock. Given this is a traditional screen print onto a heavy, organic cotton you can have confidence that this is going to last for ages.
Take care of your tea towel and you’ll get years of use out of it. How you wash has a big impact on your tea towel’s lifespan so to prolong its life, follow these recommendations:
- Wash similar items together
- Always use cold water
- Avoid bleach or strong detergents
- Line dry in the shade – don’t tumble dry
